All currently used Travel Cards are changed to new cards that are technically more versatile than the currently used cards. The old Travel Cards have been in use for 8 years already and though they have functioned faultlessly, they are now reaching the end of their lifecycle. It works just as before
The new Travel Card is contactless and it works on card readers exactly like the old card. Card readers have been updated to read both old and new Travel Cards because during the card change period both types of cards are accepted. The old Travel Cards can be used for traveling for one year from the beginning of the card change.
Travel Card can be used on all public transport in Helsinki, Espoo, Kauniainen, Vantaa, Kerava and Kirkkonummi: buses, commuter trains, the metro and trams, as well as the Suomenlinna ferry. There are two types of Travel Cards:
A personal Travel Card can only be used by the owner of the card.
These cards are available separately for adults and children (aged 7-16 years). Children under 7 years of age may travel free of charge. You can purchase a personal Travel Card at a Travel Card service point.
A multi-user Travel Card is well-suited for joint use e.g. for companies, families, as well as for residents of other municipalities.
A multi-user Travel Card can be used by any person holding the card who belongs to the same customer group. These cards are available separately for adults and children (7-16 years).
